I've had my license for a couple years shy of 2 decades, but it used to be the cost of gear kept me out of it and I kinda forgot about it... Until recently, when I found one of those simple two band Baofeng UV-5R units for $25.

I've never actually communicated with anyone on any piece of gear, and frankly, the documentation on this thing is kinda... "rough", we'll call it.

Would be nice to see if someone could walk me through setting it up and helping me make my first contact.
