Hello, and a Happy Holidays to all.

Have been out of the hobby for quite a while now, but would like to get back in.

Haven't kept track of any new offerings, but I understand that GRE is now out of the business.

Have a GRE PSR 500, which is, of course, several years old by now.

I like it very much, but was wondering-

Are there any new handheld scanners available these days that are "better" or offer more modes, or bells and whistles than the 500 ? Same question, but for Desktop units perhaps ?

If so, what, and why, please ?

(at my age now, ease of programming is very important; there would have to be easy to use software available for it. Possible third party)

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

As mentioned, Uniden has new models being released in a couple weeks, which show a lot of promise.

GRE-based models will be re-introduced by Whistler, who bought the rights to GRE's equipment.

GRE did produce the PSR-800, which has some features that the 500 does not.

All of these items have discussions on here, just search a little bit.
