A new P25 control channel showed up in/near Ottawa on 855.0875 MHz. It's licensed to
Cassidian Communications, one of eight channels. (TAFL also spells it Cassadian...there
are lots of mis-spellings in that DB). System ID is AD5.

A division of EADS who are supplying the RCMP system.

I wonder if this is a system under test before being deployed elsewhere?

I checked for licenced frequencies and found both spellings.

I was looking to see if other bands were licenced but found nothing.

The VX9 callsigns suggest maybe these are test/temporary frequencies for a
system which could be destined for elsewhere. The CC has since switched
to a different frrequency, and no sign of VCs at least for the few times I've checked.

It appeared to have most/all P25 features available other than TDMA/2 slot voice channels. Possibly this is a demonstration system? Either that or Hydro Quebec is buying ANOTHER P25 system...

Interesting that the base frequency for iden 2 is 855, not 851. And that the frequency is using LCN 00-3827 instead of 02-0147.

They're listed as spectrum signature code 900.. traditionally, P25 systems are 910. Could just be sloppy "default" data put in by IC.

The "Virtual Licence" has a disclaimer that the license is granted until March 31 with the possibility of an extension, but that there is no guarantee that the license will be "retained for conversion to a commercial system".

The wording in the virtual license makes me believe they're testing for environmental impact or some such, but it could be being staged for deployment elsewhere. They're pushing 229 watts ERP so it's not a typical lab-bench system.
