What is the difference between Canadian ans US version scanner?

1. Canadian and US versions of the firmware will only load into the corresponding scanner
2. They default to different steps in a couple of frequency ranges (but both can be toggled to either set of steps)

The radio now flashes "ptch" in the upper-right for patches.

I am getting the "ptch" in place of "TGRP" but only for about 1 second at the beginning of the transmission - then the TGRP takes its place, only to display again after the scanner returns to the control channel. Is there a setting somewhere to extend its display for the duration of the transmission? Not a big deal, just wondering.

what does that mean when it does that i havent seen it work on mine yet

You are only going to see this when 2 or more talkgroups are patched together at the dispatchers console on a trunked system. Previously, only one member of the patched group carried the traffic on the GRE, but with this upgrade the radio now recognizes a patched state across all members (TGs) of the patch. I am making my observations on a Motorola Type 2 SmartZone TRS.

this is the first time I attempted to upgrade the firmware. I know the cable is working as I can up and down load using Win500 but when I attempt to upgrade the firmware I get a "no date from scanner. Please try step 4." and the scanner is displaying "invalid runtime code detected"
Scanner is running bootver:CF1.3 and App ver:CF1.6 so I am trying to upgrade using CPUUpdater_PSR-500-600-BootF10F11_U1.8 which would be correct for bootver 1.3 or before.

The DSP version 1.4 upgraded with out a problem.

Suggestions?

GRE is pleased to offer this free upgrade to enhance the functionality and performance

Added patch support for P25, Motorola and EDACS trunking
Patched talkgroup calls are recognized and processed correctly by the scanner.

Changed CCDump type string to "EDn" if "narrow invert" is turned on

This is a minor change to the CCDump text output that identifies when the radio is
monitoring an EDACS narrowband control channel and the “Invert data” option is

Corrects issue where in certain rare circumstances the LCD may display data in
reverse or “mirror image” mode.

You're trying to load US firmware into a Canadian scanner.

On the GRE America page I linked to above, note the link for "PSR-500C/600C Firmware 1.8".

I am not having any luck loading version 1.8.
It sees the port OK, but when I click update I get a pop-up that says "no data from scanner, please retry from step 4"
I had no problem loading DSP.version1.4

I for one did use the Canadian firmware.
I also tried the US version just in case but with no luck.
