In my area, at random times, transmissions coming from Post 22, consist of what sounds like just a mic being keyed up multiple times, of varying lengths of time.

Not all the time, about 20% of the time, to me it sounds like someone is keying Morse code with their mic.
I know that's not the case, but does anyone have a idea? Signal appears to be strong.

Don't know about the MARCS system, but some transmitters have auto morse code call sign ID's so that the dispatcher does not need to do the legally required voice ID's.

Hmmm..I have heard that, this is just very slow, now that I think about it, it may be a station trying to connect to the tower, IDK.

Thanks!

Radios attempting to connect to a tower do not key up and send out a carrier; all of the handshaking for that is done on the control channel in milliseconds, and is transparent to the user.

Watch what’s coming across and see if radio IDs are associated with the keyup; if so it could simply be individuals keying up to make sure they’re connected (radio service techs, etc) or people screwing around.

FCC-required station IDs are sent by the system in the background; users won’t even hear them.

Ok, now that that is cleared up, it must be someone keying up multiple times, the only one it has happened on is 51724, OSP Post 22, Sandusky Dispatch. It just happens at random times, sometimes twice, sometimes seven or eight. It is easy to count because I have that object set up with a two chirp alarm, FWIW.
