I think shamil will like the SSB
once he gives it a try. I use to do skip all over the globe using a Cobra 2000 or the Cobra 148gtl on channels 36 upto 40. Even tried the 40.555 a few times and the signals were just great. Don't ever recall anybody getting on the single side bands cursing, using echo, (some did have the roger beeps which I could tolerate), and I know some were running higher than legal power, but their signals weren't taking up the entire CB frequencies or worse by going into the Ham band up in the 28Mhz, (least wise not that I could tell at my location).
So shamil, give it a try. The price for a CB radio with SSB isn't that much more than a standard rig w/o. And you'll find that you can work skip easily w/o running high power. Or get the Ham ticket.
