For monitoring several low traffic DMR (or others) I put the control channels in a scan list and it works very well to monitor a bunch of them with one dongle.

Have I missed something. There is a scanning option in DSDPlus? I have only really been using this for 2-3 months but I have no seen a scanning option anywhere. Any info would be appreciated.

You can set up FMPA, FMPP or FMP24 to scan a mix of analog and digital voice channels. That's what the .ScanList files are for.

Have a scanlist of the freqs then use -s instead of a frequency in your FMPx bat line.

WOW OK thanks guys. As I said new to DSD but quickly realising how powerful it is. Is this the right place for general questions about it or is there a better place to ask NOOB questions?

Too Easy. can just click away on FMP24 CC window to jump through the different Sites or if your 'locked on' to a site and the control channel changes it will move to the next. Before hand i was having guess which site was using what control freq at any given time before learning about .scanlist files

OK so a couple of questions if I may. Why are the zeros necessary after the freq? Also when you click away, what keys are used to move through the CC freqs. Can they be named?

Should work without the extra zeros.
I just click away from the frequency in fmp24 and it will quickly scan along untill it finds the next active control channel.
It will show up named in the info window if have the sites and frequencies named in .sites file and .frequencies file

1) no system activity is missed; that's important for some of us some of the time

2) better prioritized voice/data following

That's my two cents.
The P25 protocol has embedded signaling which allows a single receiver to be following a voice channel and receive all the voice_grants and voice_updates concurrently. Prioritization/preemption is therefore possible with even a single receiver.

If running scan lists, split the list and scan twice as many freq's or scan the current list twice as fast. For one thing...

Yeah, DSD+ trunk tracks more than P25 and most of those other trunking protocols don't carry grant or late entry data on traffic channels, as the bit rates simply don't support it.

Prioritization/preemption is therefore possible with even a single receiver.
Yeah, DSD+ is doing that here right now on the local P25 PS site. I have fire dispatches preempting fire tac channels preempting ambulance chatter preempting housing cops preempting ...

Non sequitur.

Has anyone had any luck with having the FMP24 running at a remote location and using DSD on the local computer

any help on how to set up the IP address and tcp links on both ends would be greatly appreciated

I am able to run FMP24 on one computer, and DSDPlus on another, it seems to work pretty well. Both computers are on my home LAN, so not sure if that is what you are referring to or something else.

In the DSDPlus batch file, you just specify the IP address of the computer running FMPxx before the port. For example,

-i192.168.x.x:20001

If you are referring to having one component outside your home network, I haven’t messed around with that.

Should work exactly the same. Might have to deal with port forwarding on the router at the FMPx end.

Yes I did a port forward on port 20001 on the remote computer and got it to work
just replace the 192.168 .x.x with the remote site IP address

Need a very good internet connection all thou

Thanks
