i just bought a bc246t trunking scanner.ive had scanners for over 20 years now and i live in south bend,in. my question is that i herd that mishawka which is a ciity right next to south bend and the state police are going to digital trunking radios. but south bend and st joe county police and fire dept. are not changing there radios in the near future. do you think i should keep this scanner or return it and save for a digtial scanner. i dont know if what i herd about the state police and mishawaka going to digtial is true or not. can anyone out there verify this or give me and suggestions? i would appreciate it . this is the first scanner of this type ive owned. thanks for any help

Digital

State is definately digital.
Mod will probably move this to Indiana Forum and someone there will probably know about Northern Indiana plans for digital.

Scotter,

First, this is best asked in the Indiana specific forum where more Indiana poeple might see it.

Second, the State Police have all but switched to digital and Mishawaka is digital as you mention. When I look at the database, I don't see any reference to South Bend or St. Joe going to digital. While that can mean nothing, most of the time it is known long before what is going to happen and a note it place on a system.

Finally, only you can decide if there is enough stuff you are missing to warrant spending $500-$600 on a digital scanner. Honestly, you might keep the current scanner and then keep saving for a digital including catching one on sale at Radio Shack at $399. Nobody has ever had too many scanners. :D

Really, you could dedicate the analog scanner to analog and the digital to digital and keep up pretty well on the action that way. Welcome and good luck with your decision.

Jim

(PS. If money is no object, then by all means take it and and buy a digital scanner.)

I live in Pokgon, between Niles Mi. & Dowagiac Mi. I don't think your bc246t will pick up the Michigan State Police and the Berrien County Sheriff Department!
No it will not, MSP is on the MPSCS, a P25 TRS.
