I have a Uniden BC785D in my truck. I love it. It does everything i want. Lately, i've been wanting to listen to Edmond and OHP from inside my house. I've been looking for a cheap scanner that can listen to trunked systems such as edmond and ohp. I've seen the Uniden BCT8. Does anyone know anything about this scanner? Good? Bad?

Also, in the description for the scanner it says:
This is a multi-band highway scanner system that responds to special secondary transmitters installed on most highway patrol vehicles across the United States.

Does anyone know what this is? I've not heard of this. Anyways, i'd appriciate any suggestions you can give me. The reason i like this scanner is because i can get it for below 200 bucks. :D

Usually referred to as "mobile extenders". Personally, I belive this is a silly non-feature. :)

If you want to read more about it:

tulsa okla.
I have 2 of them. Very nice scanners. And loud. They dont pick up Icalls or private calls. Everything else is fine. I have never played around with all the functions on them. I just hooked them up and use them to scan tulsas system so i cant say what all the state hiway stuff thats programmed in them does. I reccomend them. And they are low cost too.As for the statement about the hiway patrol car stuff, what i have asked and found out is that some not all ohp have small repeaters in their cars so they can use a handpack and it goes to the car and rebroadcasts out the mobile repeater or extender as its called.Something like that, its been 5 years since i asked that so i may be a little stupid on it exactly.
