Hello all i want to put a scanner or 4 in a 40 foot Cat, any suggestions for it? oh and the boat will be going through out the pnw and Canada and Alaska.
need simplicity as 70 yo man gets confused easy.
Well, it would help to know what you wish to scan. My BCD536HP is quite simple for trunking systems and can use GPS to scan what is local to a moving platform. On the other hand my ancient Uniden M8100 accepts keyboard entry quite readily, but lacks tone and digital squelch.

Handheld or base? Types of services interested in? canada definitely different than pacific northwest and Alaska. Any trunking systems, analog or digital?

Did the boat sail?? 😊just kidding We are still here. If money no object just get an sds100 and an sds200! As you may know, once set up these are fairly easy to keep going by just turning on/off favorites…if you want real simple get a bcd325..single key on off for the equivalent of old scanner banks..except as you may also know, not generally for simulcast systems.

Hope you are feeling better!! The sds200 should serve you well once it is set up. For handheld keep in mind that you can easily keep the sds100 and the sds200 programmed the same through Sentinel. The bcd325 requires different software..you could use a bcd436hp but having owned a few over the years I would stick with the SDSs if within budget. Others opinions may differ. One way or the other enjoy your trip!

SDS100 or 200. Super easy to program with sentinel and easy to use once up and running. My SDS100 is rock solid. I program tons of stuff into favorites and just turn the favorites on and off based on where I am.
