New Scanner

Hello,Ijust purchased a radio shack pro96 and was curious to see if it will pick any of the memphis police up.They told me it would.Any luck with this from anybody else?

Looks like yes and no, Some stuff may be on Vslep still which is not picked uo by a scanner. But the database says APCO-25 is being started there so a Pro-96 will be ok for that

Yes, you will be in good shape when the system is fully switched over to an APCO-25 compliant system. We are already hearing MPD on an erratic basis, probably because they are still heavy into testing. Follow the "Memphis/Shelby County APCO-25 Update" thread in this forum for the latest info. Latest info seems to be that it still may be at least a couple of months before the transition is complete. In the meantime, we hope to hear more and more MPD traffic.

I have the PRO-96 and it is a fine radio. Took me quite a while to really appreciate a lot of the features.
