  1. Arrived 7/23/19 with Firmware: Main – 106.25 & Sub – 101.10. I think this is the original Firmware that the radio was introduced with months ago. Did anyone get a newer Firmware version on their new SDS200?
  2. I noticed that the Front Micro USB Port is mounted 180 degrees around compared to the back Micro USB Port (yes, my back port is labeled Micro USB not Mini USB). Anyone know why this is or is mine the only one like this?
  3. In Sentinel I selected SDS200 under “Tools” and then I discovered while editing the SDS200 Profile under “Miscellaneous” then “Options” that the Volume & Squelch areas are both grayed out. Anyone else seeing this?
  4. My SDS200 is like my SDS100 in that I get NO squelch tail static crashes or loud pops at the end of each transmission, when monitoring conventional analog channels. All of my other digitally capable scanners (369T, XT, 996T, HP-1, 436HP) get really bad squelch tails crashes and pops. The 436HP has it the least however.

All of my other digitally capable scanners (369T, XT,
I have 2 XT scanners and one P2.

I haven't heard a squelch tail in years on a large mixture of conventional. Low Band, High Band, UHF and 800 frequencies.

I would imagine it's because the SDS200 has "hard" volume and squelch controls as opposed to the SDS200 that has soft controls (they aren't grayed out in the SDS200).

My volume and squelch are grayed out in the profile for my SDS200. I then changed the Target model to SDS100 (I don't own one) and it was the same.

I have the lastest version of the Firmware on the scanner.

Both SDS100 and SDS200 have "Hard" volume and Squelch control (On top of 100, front of 200) I guess I don't understand what this is in reference to? Why would there even be modifications for squelch and volume in Sentinel for these?

If you want to hear magical lack of squelch tail on analog, pick up a used Radio Shack PRO2006 :)

After doing a "write to scanner", you know what the squelch and volume settings will be. It doesn't seem real useful to me but that's what it does.

But... If you move your squelch / volume knob, won't that change?

I don't guess I'm tracking here...

Can the minimum and maximum values of the knobs be changed via this?

If you like your volume at 8 and your squelch at 2 then you set Sentinel that way. Then after the knobs tweak the settings to V2 and S5 you can do a write to scanner and it will return the setting to V8 and S2.

Odd, I choose SDS100 and I can change those settings and I'm on the latest Sentinel as far as I know (2.02 revision 1).

Odd. Maybe it's because I don't actually have a SDS100 and Sentinel actually needs to see one for changes to be made to the profile.

You could look at the configuration files with notepad to find out if the values are even listed for the sds200. There is nothing cryptic, it is fairly straight forward forward.
