I just received my SDS200. I programmed it using the latest version of Sentinal. When it receives an analog signal on the UHF-T band and VHF-HI band, the audio sounds distorted , as if I was next to a high voltage source, which i am not, and the distorted audio is way too loud. I set the UHF-T frequencies to NFM (was standard FM) and the audio cleared somewhat and the volume level was lower. The VHF-HI (Fire departments) were already set as NFM

Has anyone experienced this before?

I wanted to check before I return it to ScannerMaster.

Thank you

Have you already tried changing the filter settings, or adding the offending frequencies to IFX? Also, try to eliminate RFI sources in your house by shutting off all of the breakers and powering things back on one circuit at a time. Could be as simple as a cheap wall wart, LED or bad ballast from a florescent light causing the issue. Who knows, could also be that one of your neighbors has a bunch of grow lights.

If you suspect local interference not associated with the radio or accompanying power supply, bring it to a friend's house a mile or so down the road and give it a try there. Please keep us posted on your results.

A common source of interference is USB power supplies. They can radiate wideband signals. Unplug any USB supplies as well as any other electronics in the area. Try taking the scanner to a different room to see if there is any difference.
