New SDS200E Advice please

Hi there,

Hope you're all well.
I just received my uniden sds200E today. I went looking for software via the link in the manual

Firstly the link doesn't work and I'm not sure if I can use sentinel BCDx36HP sentinel for formware updates etcetera for the 200E model. There appears to be a lack of info for this model.

Secondly as I looked through the menus on the radio I noticed the "Push/Func" dial is buckled when rotating the dial. Is this normal?

Any advice on the above would be great and I thank you in advance.

Or, just has some 'play' in it?

If brand new, check with where you bought it - if broken out of the box, maybe they will replace it?

Hi thanks for reply.. The radio was bought new. The dial is not rotating concentrically. Its not affecting menu operation but you can see its bent as you rotate it. Nothing to worry about right now maybe, but after some usage perhaps?.

Yes I downloaded the updates from the Japanese server, this didn't do much to the screen as it still shows the system, Fire tone and other functions.
The Sds200e shows a database folder BHP536 and inside is USA and Canada folders.
I bought the proscan program as its great to use as I already use radiofeed for broadcastify.
I wonder if I'm able to delete the USA and Canada stuff from the card as although its great for the guys stateside its useless here to me.

The Main database (USA and Canada) can be completely ignored by telling the scanner not to scan it, either in Sentinel or through the scanner's menu system. None of it will be loaded into the scanner's working memory upon startup unless you choose for that to happen. It's hardly worth bothering to delete it from the SD card every time Sentinel writes it there, because the size of the database file on the SD card is so very small. The total size of the entire North American database (the HPDB file) on the SD card is only 51.5 MB.

Just an update on the scanner with the bent knob so to speak .
The seller replaced the unit no questions asked.

With the Proscan software, are you able to install to your SDS200e from the RR database.
Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but it's my understanding you can't do this with the Sentinel.

Hi there,
You can use both software(s) (Sentinel and Proscan) to program from Radio Reference (This very sites database) However this site caters for and is pretty limited/designed mostly for USA and Canada.

If you have a 200E and are from the UK for example. You will use RRUK (no affiliation with the RR you are reading this from)

You can either copy + paste the frequencies from the RRUK webpage or build your own fav lists/hpe files by using the scanner export function next to the search facility and then using proscan or sentinel to send the lists/files to the radio.

Unfortunately RRUK doesn't have the database in the same way USA benefit from location/GPS scanning. But you'll get round that in a bit

Ubbe sorry I read wrong it is a different one I did try to ask several folk who were to confirm ( one actually did).

I have a SDS200e coming from Moonraker UK.
I have been getting familiar with SDS_Sentinel.
Dosent look like I will be able to import from RR to my location in NZ.
