Well done!

That is a very nice folded dipole array you have managed to get- should perform nicely for you.

The Radioshack scanner in the first picture brings back memories for me- I had the Uniden equivalent- a BC-50XL- which had VHF Low band. Used to listen to 10m and 6m Ham radio on that one- and a few cordless phones ;)

Always wanted a Bearcat 800- that is a nice clean example you have there and is sure to be a collectable model.

Just be warned- like many of us here at RR- you will collect many more radio's and antenna's start to sprout up around the place!

Regards, Commscanaus

hahah thanks, yea, the diode antenna works well on the 800 xlt, but it still picks up our washer when it is in spinning and jiroding mode. it messes up the freqs of 33.90, 33.88, 33.52, and 33.54 that i try to listen to for fire in York County. Plus on the 8oo xlt, the display is starting to go on it.

The one portable scanner in my room is hooked up to a Celluar phone antenna. it works great i hear alot more with that then i do with the mobile unit downstairs that is hooked with the diode antenna. The only problem i have with it is that the battery pack batteries do not stay charged and when i plug it in i have to keep it plugged in to work. need to get a new battery pack for it. plus the sound volume switch is starting to go. but it is working well.

yes, we have 3 CB radios down in the basement, and a few more antennas as well.
