I've had these station speakers about 10 years now, and they are just worn out, the price was right back then and I've gotten my money's worth out of them:

I tried upgrading them with car stereo speakers:

but there was too much mismatch between the 4 ohm speaker and 8 ohm stereo
amp, it distorted too much when turned up. So I ordered some new ones online
for about $37 each. Each speaker weighs about 4 lbs and are rated for 100 watts
RMS. Plenty for listening to Radio Havana Cuba!

Taking the old ones out:

The new ones fit perfectly!

and believe me, they sound GREAT!

Total project time: about 30 minutes.

Is that main speaker a 15 inch? Because I have 2 Peavey Nashville
400 Steel guitar amps and they produce 200 watts with the famous
Black Widow speakers. And I also have 2 JBLs that put out 300 watts
That's an awful lot of twang lol ;)

15 inch? Boy, that would put some boom into those static crashes!

No, just 6 inch, but overall they have a full bodied sound.
