New to computers

I just got my first computer. I started on Web-tv and went to MSNtv-2. Please bear with me as I learn. I want to try and program my BCT-15 with this computer. This is going to sound dumb, but on my programming cable is the fitting for the back of the scanner. The other end I take it plugs into my computer tower? Here is the problem the usb fitting is to small to plug into the tower is there a adapter you buy? This is the cable that came with the scanner. You have it backwards. The small USB-like connector plugs into the front of the scanner. The large 9-pin connector plugs into the serial port on the computer, if there is one. If no serial port you need a usb to serial adapter cable.

Thanks pro92b. I never noticed the little USB connector on the front of my scanner, just the big end and I took it that it plugged into the back of the scanner. I can see I am in for a fun time.........Ray
