Im new to d-star and ordered an Icom 5100A. I watched alot of youtube videos on how to program the radio. My question is when linking another repeater or reflector, U should unlink when you are done with your tx. Is there a way just to listen to linked repeaters and reflectors without interfering with others on the repeater.

No. Once the repeater is linked to another repeater or a reflector, everyone listening to the repeater hears the linked repeater or reflector.

As W9BU points out.. Everyone hears the link. For leaving the links up, I think it would depend on the person or group sponsoring the repeater...

With our repeater, its often left linked to other reflectors during the day for something to listen to. Nobody cares.. If someone wants to chat locally, they can just bring down the link.. In your case, the best bet would be to check with whoever runs the repeater.
