New to digital around Oak Lawn

I recently was gifted a new HP-2 scanner to replace my 30 year old Radio shack . I've updated the firmware and the database and am still not getting anything from Oak Lawn, What else should I try ?

Once you select the oaklawn talk groups and select the sites and assign it a favorites list the next thing you need to check is that the proper service types boxes are checked and that the monitor setting is turned on in the edit profile tab under favorites list. if all this has been done you may want to move the scanner around till you start receiving. oaklawn uses the starcom21 digital system. this system can be tricky to monitor and just moving it an inch can make a difference. hope this helps you. im a city to the north of you and listen to OLREC often.

If you're in Oak Lawn, when listening to the police, try monitoring Site 1-030 on the StarCom21 system. It should work better than Site 1-002.

Since the Cook County site changed NAC and OLREC went to Phase 2, I'm hearing more traffic on this site than the Christ site, and since it's a simulcast site, no guarantee with the HP-2 you'll receive it well.
