Hi, as I am new to the digital world of scanners, I'm looking for recommendations and possible advice towards monitoring the South Central Florida Express (US Sugar) DMR frequencies. Will a Uniden BCD325P2 suffice, or is it better to just wait for the BCD160/260DN to come out? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

The newest uniden product will NOT support any type of trunking AFAIK, only conventional DMR. If you're only going to use this scanner for railroads and no other DMR or NXDN systems (i.e. some of which are likely using trunking), the newest product should work fine. For general DMR/NXDN I would look at getting a used 436HP, however a 325P2 should also work fine.

I would wait to see the pricing for the new 160/260 since they “were” scheduled to be available around end of 2023.

I can’t imagine lack of trunking will be an issue for rail monitoring.

You would have to add DMR to a 325.

But don’t assume « lack of DMR trunking” on a scanner equals being unable to track conversations.
I have a Whistler WS-1080 with which I monitor a DMR Tier-3 trunking system —with not many users on it— and it does 99.9% of what my BCD325p2 and BCD436hp can do, as trunking-able scanners, so…
