New to FL

Good Morning,

We have just moved down here to FL from Cape Cod, MA. I was a Lieutenant on the West Barnstable Fd and now want to use my scanner down here. I have a Radio Shack Pro-97. I have looked around but can't find a good listing of FD frequencies. We are living in North Port. Also, has this area gone to digital? I know if they have then my scanner is junk and I will need to get a new one.

The problem your going to have is, your area is digital and you need a digital scanner. The Pro-97 is not going to work for you. I would suggest a Pro-106 or a Pro-197 from Radio Shack. There both on sale and the lowest priced digital scanner out right now.

New To Florida

Yes, you will need to get a new scanner. Sarasota Co., which North Port is in has gone digital. Look up Sarasota Co. in the RR data base, you will find Public Service at the bottom in the listings of Trunked systems. You will find North Port uses Site 5 with Engelwood, you at least need CC's for site 5 if that's all you are interested in.
