Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to this site here and new to scanning as well. About a month ago I got my first scanner, a Uniden BC246T. It's working great and I got lots of freqs programmed into it. Back home in Edmonton I like listening to the public service trunk. I work as a first responder for the oil patch and when I'm at the drill rig I'm stationed at I listen to all the logging road channels in the immediate area as well as provincial ambulance and Grande Prarie public service. I have a regular radio in my emergency vehicle at work so I can transmit. I understand that scanners don't transmit but are there ways of modding a scanner to do so? And if not...what does folks suggest for a portable radio that a person could program on their own? Is there such a thing? Or do you have to get the radio professionally programmed...
Other than that, I think RR is a great site and I got most of my freqs here through the downloading feature of the ARC246T software which is a real slick and easy way to program the 246T.
Cheers to all.
