new to scanning

hello I am new to this scanning and would like to know what is a good scanner for base and my car .I know there are many to choose from but I would like to ask users what I have now is a old ha 225 .thank you .Ron KC2LNB

The choice would depend on what you are interested in listening to, and what type of systems are in you area. Those answers will determine if you need a digital($) or not or if trunking is even an issue for you. If you can supply more info here these forum members will give you a ton of info and opinion.
