I have a RadioShack Pro-94. I want to listen to the railroad. I programmed the channels on my scanner to the channels of the AAR. Is this the best way to do it? my scanner is dual-trunking, how does that apply to listening to the railroad?any help is appreciated

Trunking has nothing to do with the RR freqs.

I have all the AAR channels programmed into one bank, and the local road, yard, shortline, etc. channels programmed into another bank for when I'm out photographing. Works for me.

Hi Dan,

Check out the various railfan web sites especially http://www.railroadradio.net/ where you will find a forum with people who will help you with frequencies in use in your area. With the exception of a few repeaters used mainly by police the VHF frequencies are simplex and some UHF systems are trunked. For example New Jersey Transit is trunked but the heavy rail operations are VHF simplex with two police repeater systems.
