I live in Toronto and would like to monitor the railroad and the police. I have a RadioShack Pro-94 does anyone know the best way to start going about this? whats the difference in listening to the scanner with dual-trunking or without. How do I program my scanner to listen to it in the dual-trunking mode, I cant seem to wrap my head around the instruction guide. Any help will be appreciated!!!

Hi ,acab6 .

You'll have to program your Pro -94 in E2-800 Motorola trunking mode.
I'll add this trunking tutorial from the RS website to assist you.
http://support.radioshack.com/support_electronics/doc67/67354.htm

You will want to enter this system: http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=738
Use one bank per geographic site.

What dual trunking means is that it will trunktrack two types of trunking systems, one
being Motorola and the other being EDACS.

The railroads can be monitored quite easily , just punch in the freq's and you are all set.
Check out this link for rail: http://www.trainweb.org/railscan/freq.html

Give it a try and see how it works out :)

Each site South ,East ,North , West should occupy it's own bank . Eg : Bank 1 South , enter all freq's listed. Next , Bank 2 East , .... and so on.

If this is too much information at once, at least enter in the South site as this site has the Fire Dispatch and the 5 District police divisions , so there will be plenty of action. Once you successfully get that one operational, then do the other three to get full city coverage.

o.k figured it out. do you know what the data channel is for the toronto police? or how I can find out? Do you need to know the data channel to properly scan? also whats the difference between conventional channels of the toronto police and the system frequencys of the tornto police (which I just programmed)?
