New to SDR, problems interfacing with Unitrunker

it should autodetect, however i did purchase an Airspy Mini and was able to connect to Unitrunker immediately with no issues, so i may swap over to airspy units as the performance to me seems better

Have you tried opening the unitrunker app with admin rights?
Right click app. open as admin. See if that works.

It’s a known issue especially on Hubs and newer PC’s that use hubs on the MB instead of actual dedicated ports, he knows about it
