I have a DVB-T+DAB+FM dongle running SDR# Ver. 1332 and DSD+ 1.51 with VBCable. It appears to be working as I can hear various traffic from agencies in the area. Our EMS transmits simulcast analog and digital and I hear the audio traffic on a scanner and what I "think" is digital on the PC. (there is a delay)
My question is...if I am set to NFM, running DSD and see the proper waveform on the water fall, and hear audio then I can be 100% sure I am receiving digital and not analog???
The reason I am asking is that on 2 frequency's where our LE is supposed to be I only hear something that sounds like data. So I am wondering if where I am hearing traffic that it is analog and the one I cannot hear traffic is digital and is not being decoded.
Thanks,
Julian

There is a slight delay even with analog through SDR# as compared to say a scanner parked on the same channel that I have noticed.

To hear digital channels you have to set your audio out in SDR# to the VB cable. This will feed the digital signal to DSD+ for decode. DSD+ should automatically detect your sound card and send the decoded digital to your speakers. That's how it worked out for me.

I'm new to this also so if I missed something someone please chime in and correct me.

You should see information on the DSD+ screen that tells you what you are decoding.

Yeah,You can see the processing time in play when using SDR with a radio, side by side..at its best SDR# has given me about .5 to a 1 second lag..( on my notebook,dell/XFR D630-dual-core/2ghz/4g ram..Win7 64bit)

But also keeping in mind when your looking at 2mhz of spectrum at once..the CPU is not just processing the single frequency but rather the entire slice..and that im usually using 2-3 VFO's...

I have good strong signals but I am seeing nothing on the decode screen of DSD+. I have played with gain and audio levels and see no difference.
There are only 2 frequencies listed in the Database for Mototrbo use and we have 5 agencies using it. So I am thinking it may not be trunked but "digitally grouped" all on one frequency..
I will download Unitracker and see if I get anywhere with it.
Audio is set to VB Cable and I do hear digital noise.
I understand that everyones setup and success is different so being new I will probably ask some obvious questions!!!

I don't know what I did but I am now seeing traffic on the decode screen and can hear audio.
It seems to be muffled. Are there any setting in the audio section that I can adjust to try and get the voice unmuffled??
OR is this just the nature of the software???
Thanks,,
