I just purchased a Pro-2051. I am trying just to program for the sheriff's office which I work for (St. Charles S O, Louisiana) Please someone lead me in a way where either I can talk to someone or find some directions to do this. The directions Radio Shack sent me are not worth crap. PLEASE someone help me!!!!!!

Thanx,
T.J.

TJ, first time scanner users usually have programming problems as I did as well. But when you post a request, it's easier to get help by being a little more specific. I have owned the 2051 in the past and didn't care for it due to it's inability to track trunking systems as well as conventional ones at the same time. I found the instructions somewhat complicated, but, straightforward at the same time. My suggestions is to first print out the info for your system, which is right here, then start your input one step at a time as instructed. I found dealing with trunked systems and Trunking scanners somewhat frustrating until I got the hang of it. You may also want to consisder programming software to ease the pain of progarmming. I hope I have been of some help, and you'll probably get more suggestions as well. The members of this site are usually very helpful to newcomers and old members as well.

T-Man, do a yahoo search for programming software for the
Pro-2051. You will need a cable sold at RS and the software. In the meantime keep reading the manual, after awhile it will make sense to you.

I got my Pro2051 about two weeks ago, and yes programming is a bit confusing until you play with it for awhile. My Pro2051 scans both conventional and trunking at the same time. I'm listening to conventional and an EDACS system right now.

Original models of the 2051 wouldn't scan trunked and conventional at the same time. Newer models do. I don't know what the dividing point is, sorry.

Hey T-man

Figure out what bank you want to enter your freq's in, then hold down the
TRUNK button until you hear two beeps.
After that, push BANK and TRUNK. At this point all the bank
numbers will be flashing.
Press the number of the bank you want to enter the freq's into.

Use the ^ (up arrow) to find a Motorola Type II system . The display
should look like this E2 -800, press E

Enter the freq's from this link.

After all this is done , press SEARCH .
Good luck :D
