Hello everyone,
I need help obtaining information on how to obtain an amateur radio license .
I obtained my my FCC GROL a year ago but now I am curios as to how
a HAM radio work and how I can program frequencies in it as this will
help me at work. I currently work as DAS tech installing systems for the
Public Safety sector (fire/ems, police) in northern Ca. I truly
appreciate any information anyone can share with me.
Thank you

Getting Licensed

The license exam covers subjects similar to the GROL exam. If you learn the amateur rules the rest should be a breeze.

To learn to program different radios you would need to refer to the individual radio manuals and different software, which can vary.

Getting licensed

Refer to the particular manual for programming. Radio licenses are of three types:
Technicians
General
Extra
You have to start from the technician, they can move to general and finally to extra.
Watch this video on youtube from TinHatRanch which explains all details: https://youtu.be/bYEzUbb07Mc

Also, refer to ARRL website for more details. Sorry for not sharing links. Since I can't post links.
