New to this and need LOTS of advice...please

OK so here is my story. Im new to doing anything beyond scanning with control channel data to put it bluntly. I need help with setting up a PRO2052 scanner and need to know what hardware and software is the best or will work well with what i have. I also need to know about what hardware mods i need to make (or pay someone to do for me ) to get this all to work. I need to know what will work with Wondows XP, a PRO2052 scanner. I have done some looking around the forums and the site but its all so scattered it's hard to read and understand what i need to do. SO any help i can get is always appreciated...Thanks

That scanner is ALREADY a trunktracker. You don't need anything in addition to POWER, and maybe some patience to read the instruction guide on how to program it in order to begin scanning trunked systems.

A dataslicer isn't going to be needed. How ever if you wanted to intercept other forms of digital comms such as used by pagers, and MDT's (note this is illegal) then you would need a slicer. But for trunking, NO. The scanner already is setup to do that.

It appears that I should have been a little more sepcific with this post. SO here goes. What I meant i needed help with was setting up the scanner so that i could decode data information. I already have good knowledge on howto program ithen and all of that. I needed some help with tapping it and data slicers and what software i needed to get. Sorry for the confusion.

Depends on what data streams you are attempting to decode. If you are talking about trunking system control channels, it again depends on which ones you are working with. There are presently a couple (and another on the way) trunking decoding software programs that work off of sound card input as opposed to using a data slicer.

The first thing you need to do, is read everything you can find on the subject here on the site by starting with the links from the home page (left panel) that are under "Online Content" specifically the "Trunking Information" and "Trunker/Etrunker" links. Then you can get some of the software by using the "Download" page link under "Web Features". I can assure you, that if you read all that stuff and absorb it, you will not need any high level advice on how to proceed.
