I just bought and received my new BCD325P2. I already programmed it using ProScan and used my RR Premium to import system data.

Why does the P25 audio sound weaker than analog aircraft band reception?

Thanks for the information. I will need to find a accessory that is an "open ear" design of a wired earphone. I plan to take my new scanner out on my E-Bike commutes. I have Shokz bone conduction earphones, but they are bluetooth only. I can hear cars approaching with music playing constantly. Is there any such thing that is wired with an "open ear" design?

Yes, and I don't want to be "that guy" but a quick search of "wired open ear headphones" brought up quite a few, actually I was surprised.
I do not however have a recommendation, I've never used any of the wired stuff for some time now. Also while I can see the absolute need for the open ear design I personally don't care for the bone conduction stuff. I know however, my son uses them at work daily (bluetooth ones) and he seems to like them.

I have added Bluetooth transmitter to my scanners and paired them to my aftershokz and my new pair of aftershokz 2's and it works just fine.
You can find these little rechargeable transmitters on Amazon and other places.

My open-ear wired headphones is Koss Porta-Pro. Been a loyal user of these since 1996. Good all-purpose headphones. Might be overkill on a scanner, but I don't mind.

Wearing headphones while operating a vehicle may be a violation of the law.

As long as you can hear traffic coming upon you on the open roads it's fine, but preference is open earbuds like Shokz. These do not totally cover the ear. These sit just above the ear canal allowing surrounding environment to enter as well as music, or etc. Sound quality is sacrificed but I rather be aware of cars than sound quality. Never bike half deaf. They have just enough volume to hear and not block out any environmental noise.

For scanning, a single earbud is fine.

FYI, I don't drive or ride bikes, myself. 🙃 That's the beauty of headphones like the Koss Porta-Pro, as these aren't enclosed, and don't cut exterior noise out. Simple, lightweight, over-the-ear, no buds, and no enclosures. I do agree that one should always be aware of their surroundings, especially for traffic.

I said they might be overkill for use with a scanner, because they're meant for CD-quality audio, but I like them particularly for no pressure on the ears.
