Going passed the NJSP Bloomfield yesterday I noticed a new tower going up.
Does anyone know whats going on.

Also last year Parkway re-banded there conventional 800 repeaters for operations
and maintenance does anyone know if that's temporary or is NJ Highway authority getting
a new radio system for the Turnpike, Parkway and NJDOT.

Thanks for any help on this,

tony

The old tower needed to be replaced, the gsp maint, ops ( not sure if tp, dot involved) are going 220, some of the antennas are already up on the towers. I believe Pinnacle Wireless has the contract to install and maintain the systyem. Rumor has it, digital trunked system.

According to FCC records, the new tower will be 230 feet high. Ground elevation at the tower base is 173 feet. Thus, total height AMSL will be 423 feet. The existing tower is also 230 feet high.

Tower owner is the NJ Turnpike Authority (which now runs the GSP).

Motorola, Inc. of Riverside, NJ filed the necessary paperwork with the FCC for tower authorization. So, it must be a Motorola system going in.

And, there is no record of any 220MHz authorization/license being issued to the NJ Turnpike Authority, or the State of NJ DOT.

A new tower recently went up at the GSP HQ in Woodbridge. There are what look like a few new VHF sticks on the tower. There was an earlier post about this but I couldn't find it.
