Not sure if this will be a part of Melrose Park's DMR Tier III system, but I noticed this new trunked license for Franklin Park. It shows DMR and NFM for 470.3375 and 470.9625, and interestingly uses the same location as Melrose Park's system.

I've added these two repeater freqs to my record list and will try to remember to post here if I start hearing something.

There appear to be more voice channels than what is in the database, DSD showing LCNs (LSNs?) 131/132, 190, and 213/214 off the original site 1.2. Haven't had time to pop those into the calculator to see what frequencies those correspond to. RAS is in use. Nothing on the new frequencies.

DSD+ software displays Logical Slot Numbers (LSNs), while Uniden scanners with the DMR upgrade use Logical Channel Numbers (LCNs) to track trunked DMR systems. With UHF DMR Tier III systems using 12.5 kHz spacing, LSNs 189/190 are LCN 94, 453.1625. LSNs 213/214 are LCN 106, 453.3125. Both of these were in the database for the Village of Melrose Park DMR TIII trunked system. What you discovered was LSNs 131/132, which are LCN 65 452.800. Alpha Prime Communications (WQCW934) happens to be licensed for a 452.800 repeater on the same tower as the Melrose Park TIII system, and I've confirmed that it is indeed part of this system using Color Code 10.

The Radio Reference database has been updated, nice find Awesomeman92!!!

Don't mind me, just replying to keep the thread "unlocked". Anyhow, has anyone heard/received anything from these frequencies? It's been over a year, and I haven't.

Nothing yet, I've again added these freqs to my record list.

Can this system be monitored with the SDS radios?
The Melrose Park DMR trunked system can be tracked, but it appears that most (if not all) of the talkgroups are encrypted.

Last weekend I heard River Grove say that they were doing radio testing at Triton College on the digital system.

I heard Norcom tell an officer this morning to switch to the Network 16 DMR channel.

I thought I heard a FP unit say something like "we have the other net now" the other day but wasn't sure if I heard it right.

I popped the Melrose Park site into DSD and I'm seeing quite a bit of encrypted traffic on TG 19. Googling one of the names that pops up as a radio ID it looks like this is Melrose Park PD, likely dispatch because they're talking with NORCOMM. Not sure if anyone else is on there with them. I know that talkgroup isn't new but I don't remember it being as active as it is now the last time I took a look at this system.

Everyone is still on the Network 16 T-Band repeater, and it's sounding just a bad as ever. I wonder why they didn't follow everyone else over to STARCOM21 like Network 17 did recently.

Seeing a radio self report this morning with the ID FPPD 8120 on TG 19, so it's not just Melrose on there. Seems like they're still using both analog and digital, FPPD unit mentioned they switched back because they were having problems with digital. Also seeing RGPD 658 so that's where they're going.

Simple. Money. If they own their own system they don't have to pay subscriber fees. NORCOMM is private and for profit, MCD is not.

Apologies, I misremembered numbers and thought you meant Net 15 that was MCD. Of course too much time had passed to edit the original response, but I would guess the same statement still applies to 17. As to why that specific net went to SC they may have gotten a deal on airtime or radios from the county. Not sure.

Appears the radio ID format is 19 then the unit ID. For example Franklin Park 8124 is showing ID 198124. River Grove 658 is 19658. You get the idea.

Well so now it’s confirmed that everyone is going to be on the Melrose Park 450 MHz DMR system, what’s the Franklin Park 470MHz license for?

Finally received some activity on one of the frequencies. Earlier, I received 470.3375 using CC10 and my SDS100 showed 'DMRT3'. Didn't get any RIDs since I received it while scanning through conventional freqs. Unfortunately, whatever it was, it was ENC. But, it's safe to say that they're going to be used for the Melrose Park Tier 3 system.

Nice catch, Jim! The Tier 3 LCN for 470.3375 should be 1468, and the Tier 3 LCN for 470.9625 (if used with this system) should be 1518.

LCN 1468 didn't work for 470.3375. DSD+ is showing LSNs 1055/1056 for that frequency (different from what DMR TIII LSN/LCN Frequency calculator comes up with). I tried LCN 527 instead and that works! If 470.9625 gets used as part of this system, it appears that LCN 577 should work for that frequency.

Not really related, but currently Melrose Park and Stone Park have switched back over to the analog Net-16 freq since they're having problems with DMR at the moment.
