Have you changed your meter level settings I think they may be your problem check them out also check your radio and make sure the volume is not too high.

Sorry, I was thinking of a raspberry Pi there is no meter settings, but your radio may be too close to your computer I think you are getting interference from your computer in your radio you need to get your radio about 10 feet away from the computer I had the same problems with my system you will know when you are far enough away when the display stops scrolling frequencies on the computer like what you were showing. The only time it should show frequencies on the computer is when you receive a tone or a call.

What about when people are talking on the radio? Should it not be displaying anything then? My display has always showed a bunch of random frequencies as people talked on the radio, but would alert when a valid tone set was detected.

When ever audio is present, on the source you are using, it will display what looks like random audio. This is normal. The program is "listening" for the set tones and sees voice as a frequency as well as tone.

Yes, when some one is talking you will see frequencies but when it is quit there should be blank that is when you know it is working. If it is not quit after a message your message will not be able to send it to the email.

v64 Released

Hi everyone,

I just posted v64 on the program page. I'm away from home so I haven't been able to test this as thoroughly as I'd like. Let me know if you run into any problems.

Version 64 Release Notes:
- Longtonelength limited to 8 seconds, Atonelength and Btonelength limited to 4 seconds
- remotely hosted tones.cfg info is retrieved based on timer rather than upon tone detection. Default is once per hour. Can be changed by adding update_interval parameter to remote.cfg file. update_interval = 30 would update every 30 minutes.
- Added ability to send "Admin Email" from TonesEditor interface (TonesEditorv7)
- Added version number to the GUI title bar
- Limited support for Port 25 SMTP server (untested)

A version for the Raspberry Pi is include in the ZIP file.

Thanks,

Andy

Thanks for the update, Andy. All wonderful stuff. One question:

The change to a timer only affects retrieval of a remotely hosted tones.cfg, correct? The program still refreshes the list of email addresses from the local copy of tones.cfg every time a tone set is detected?

Sorry, I guess that is two questions.

Program stops working

I open and run TwoToneDetect v63 on my computer. It works fine for a day or two then it will stop picking up the tone and I have to close and reopen the program to get it to work again. Version 56 never had this issue but I did get false messages. What will cause this to stop recongnizing the tones after a day or two of running the program?

Jim,

It does the timer-based update for both local and remote. Your comment made me realize that I should put the update_interval parameter in the config.cfg file rather than in the remote.cfg file. I just re-posted v64 with that change. These are the silly mistakes I make when I haven't looked at or thought about the code in months

Are there any errors in your log.txt file after it stops working?

I just upgraded to V64 and it appears that the record timer is not working in this revision and is recording for 60 seconds. V63 stopped recording after 3 seconds of silence. I copied the config files without changing anything when I upgraded. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

dynamic recording

I also upgraded to v64Pi last evening. I checked the audio files for two pages this morning and it appears to be working fine. Attached are the analyses of the two events plus the config information. Mine is set to record for 20 seconds and then listen for 4 sec of silence.

Hmm..., did the update_interval (60 default) get crossed up with the record_seconds in the Windows version?

Seems to be working correctly for me under Windows. wscott, make sure your audio squelch level is still ok. If the program is showing you frequencies (numbers) on the main screen during silence, you may need to bump up your audio squelch level a bit.

What are your Atonelength and Btonelength settings in tones.cfg? Try a setting of 0.6 for the Atone and 1.0 for the Btone. It looks like you may have them set for that actual tone lengths of 1/3 and you are only sometimes gettting the entire tone length detected. Using the above suggested lengths you will be looking for .6 sec of Atone and 1 second of B tone. Normally a Quick Call 2 format has 1 second of A followed by 3 seconds of B, so you should easily be able to detect .6 sec A and 1.0 seconds of B.

It looks like you are trying to detect 3 seconds of B tone when in some cases the audio may only be feeding in 2.9 seconds so you miss it. Another one gets the full 3 second feed and you decode it.

Let us know what you find out.

You might improve your reliability a little also if you edit your Tone1 set to 742A/785B as those are the frequencies that are actually being detected.
