A,
I am currently running 3 agencies on TTD60. Both of my tones are set at .6 with good success so far. Been up and running for about 1 week so far.

Thanks Mike. Andy has all my stuff and is checking on it w/ his computer. I'm a long time user and didn't have issues till the update.

I found the issue, posting it here in case others run into the same thing.

This problem was due to using the exact same Description for more than one tone set. This wasn't an issue in the older versions because how the tone information gets stored while the program is running changed with the new algorithm. It used to be stored based on a number, now it's based on Description. So rather than having two tone sets with identical Descriptions, just change one character in the Description and it should work.

Hate to bother you again, but I use "http://audioboo.fm" to upload the audio. It worked great until the update. I'm wondering if it's because the subject gets copied into the body of the emails now. Is there any way to have it not copy email subjects into the body? Could I take that part out somewhere or could you possibly make that an option for Config? Has anyone else who uses Audioboo had this problem?

I figured out issue... for some reason it won't upload to AudioBoo when "BCC" is checked. When not checked, it uploads fine. Do you know why it would do that?

Found solution. I'm running 2 instances of the program, from two different folders. One has BCC for recepients who need BCC and the other has BCC unchecked to go to AudioBoo

Issue w/Verizon

I have a few systems setup with Ver. 60 that are working excellently, however I have a handfull of recipients that claim they are not getting all of the messages but they do get some. I am using gmail as my mail source and it seems there are only a few that are having issues with their Verizon. Anybody got any thoughts? I monitor some of the more important departments and I seem to always get the daily test message but don't know if I miss any actual messages since I don't carry a pager for these departments.

Dorff411,
I had a similar issue with some ATT phones in my area. I solved it by switching them from AMR format to MP3. One other benefit is the audio of the MP3 file seems to be clearer. They seem to be getting the messages more consistently. One other thing I noticed is when FD & EMS get paged out for the same incident whoever's tones drop first is who get's the text message. Is this a limitation of TTD60 or gmail not being able to do two things at once? Any thoughts will be appreciated.

It should handle stacked pages (fire and ems) without any issue. Can you post more details about the tone sets in question and your setup?

Andy,
The setup is one scanner with the two frequencies in it my FD on ch 1, EMS and a second FD on ch 2, connected to single PC (Vista SP2). My tones are A: 2359.8 B: 716.2, EMS A:473.0 B: 716.2, 2nd FD A: 1900.2 B: 1285.0. A & B tone length is set at .6, record delay 1.0 and ignore after 60 in Tone Editor. Record time 30 seconds, release time 0.0, tone tolerance 2.0, tone offset 0.0 in TTD. Normally dispatch will pause after setting one tone set off, allowing the scanner to shift freq. and pick up the second, then send out both messages. I did see this happen on a couple of calls and thought this is great. The only thing I can think of would be to close down the squelch on the scanner a little.

It seems to me that the scanner is not falling to the second channel. You might be better off getting a cheap scanner, audio patch, and a USB sound card then running a second copy of TTD.

The other option is to turn up (not down) your squelch so that it barely triggers when tones and talk is going on. However, fine tuning this will be much harder than tuning it just above the noise floor. Still look at that scanner as the culprit. Either that or the switch is happening but not enough tone is caught to trigger the second tone set. Either way still a tricky method of stacking.

I'm not sure if anyone else would be interested, but an idea I had that would be neat to implement in a future version is the ability to detect a DTMF tone set.
My county uses a set of DTMF tones to active the tornado sirens for example. Having the program pickup the DTMF tones used to activate the sirens would be neat to also be alerted via text message that the sirens have been activated.

Tecker,
Made small increase in squelch setting with positive results. Stacked pages seem to be working, weekly tone test where all 3 agencies get tested and an actual FD & EMS call all worked good. However, I had to change computers on Friday. Now running an HP with XP SP3 and all is good so far.
Thanks all for the help getting this up and running.

Anyone know a good Tone tolerance and Tone offset to set to? I do see the meter running a little because I think the computer is picking up noise from other radios because it is in a radio room for our department. Please let me know, Thank you.

- Also what is a good Squelch level to set to, The green bar doesn't move as much from background noise when it is up higher.

- Also is there away to ignore tones at two points of the day? I have it set up to ignore tones from 1755 to 1805 but We have a tone test at 0800 and 1800.

Hi everyone,

I just posted v61 to the program page. This version fixes a few bugs and also should allow you to send emails using Yahoo and other providers that use SSL on port 465.

Version 61 Release Notes:
  • Added error checking for duplicate Description fields in tones.cfg
  • Added SSL option for outgoing email in addition to STARTTLS - the program will use automatically use SSL instead of STARTTLS if port 465 is specified (for Yahoo and others)
  • Added playback during dynamic record time
  • Fixed echo during stacked tone playback during record

Included in the zip file is the Pi .pyc file for those using a Raspberry Pi. I haven't tested this version on the Pi yet, but you can try it if you'd like. Once I get it fully tested on the Pi, I'll create a tarball and post that separately.

Also, I'm close to having a site ready to host tone config files that will allow remote web-based editing of email addresses and (eventually) other tone info. This service won't be free, but it won't be expensive. I basically want to cover the costs of the hosting if I can. For a demo of what it will look like, go here:

TwoToneDetect Login

To see what it would look like to an individual user (fire department) use this login info:
username: demouser
password: twotonedetect

To see what it would look like to an admin (person who owns the computer running TTD) use this login info:
username: demoadmin
password: twotonedetect

I still have some work to do before I'm ready to offer this for public sign up, but I am looking for one or two people to help me test it out. If you're interested, let me know.

Thanks,

Andy

Hello Andy,
I am willing to help out where I can.
Do you have a idea what you might ask for in hosting cost?

My first thought is something like $1 per month per tone file for non-commercial use, with commercial use costing more. I'm open to suggestions.

$12 A year is very reasonable. I would use this. It would allow me to offer this to other departments and have them update their own numbers while I can maintain control.

Let me know what I can do to help.
