Thanks for the detailed response. My vote is for the hiccup. It sounds like you have everything set up properly.

Thanks for responding. Hopefully an internet hiccup is all that it was. I was worried it was something worse. I'll post back if I have any more problems with it. Maybe now would be a good time to upgrade from version 60 to version 61... just to be safe.

Thanks,
Grady

My production version is still v56! I have found it to be pretty rock solid so I am sticking with it. Now with that said, I am currently working on transitioning everything over to a Raspberry Pi, TwoToneDetect and the RR feed both through one micro unit. Now if I can just get the feed to work in tandem...

One thing about the RR feeds is at the bottom of the Technicals Page it shows you status messages. I find that internet hiccups occur occasionally as the feed goes off line for a couple minutes and then comes back on for no reason at all.

In my setup, I am running 7 departments on 1 ttd 6.0. All 7 of those departments get paged out on the same frequency, so, a scanner with only that 1 freq and 1 instance of ttd is all I need for the county wide coverage setup. Ver 5.9b and lower worked perfect for all 7 departments. When I upgraded to ver 6.0, ttd would regonize the tone for the first department on the list but would not pick up the tone for the other 6. I thought this was quite odd. After looking at the tones.cfg file, I noticed the "number" associated with the department was a little off(probably due to me setting up a dept, then removing it from the list) i.e 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. I renumbered the departments in the config file so that it represents the actual order on the list( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,). After that, ttd 6.0 was picking up the first 2 dept. tones but not the bottom 5. my lengths at the time were A =.4 B=.6. I changed all the B tones to 3 so now my config looks like A=.4 B=3. And now im getting the pages for all 7 departments no issues at all this week. Thought that was a little fluke I wanted to share.

Yes, they run well together on a Windows machine. I have an old WinXP box that has been running them together for a couple years now. I am real close to making it work on the Pi, just some tweaks, I hope. The advantage is minimal size and minimal power use. I currently have been running TTD on a pi for about two months with 46 tone sets and 30-40 decodes a day without issues.

TwoToneDetect61 works Great

I am now set-up with Version-61 and today I found out how well it works, I have it set-up with our fire dept. tones and I was working outside where my pager will not work but I had my Smart Phone with a ear peace and heard the page looking for a pumper operator, I think this is going to work for me. Because there are areas where we can not receive calls on our pagers but our cell phones will work. Now I need to test this with other Cell Phones.
Thanks for your Help.

It looks like there was an error either with your internet connection or with the email server you're using. The program tried to connect to the email server to send the message but didn't get a response. Usually these sorts of things are temporary problems that you can't do much about. If it persists, you may need to do some more troubleshooting.

v62 Released

Hi everyone,

I just posted v62 to the program page.

Version 62 Release Notes:
  • Added support for a gap between A and B tones using a new parameter called gaplength (optional). Set this slightly longer than the actual gap between A and B tones. If your area doesn't have a gap between tones, you don't need to use this parameter
  • Added an error message popup box if no audio input devices are found since this seems to be a common problem with a not of newer computers using onboard sound.
  • Added support for a parameter called email_from in config.cfg. This is not supported in the GUI as it's not something most people would want to use. It must be added manually by editing config.cfg in a text editor. This will set the 'FROM' field in the email header to something other than the email_user.

I've also made some improvements to the web editor for my remote hosting of tones.cfg files. All parameters can now be edited by admin users, while regular users can still only edit the email distribution lists. This allows each agency (in a county, for example) to have their own login to manage their users while the admin for the area can edit all parameters for all agencies. I'm charging $1 per month (for non-commercial use) for this hosting service to cover my expenses.

As always, feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

Audio Input Problems

I simpy have my audio cable plugged in on both ends. I try to open the software, and it says that an audio device was not detected. I want to know how to fix that problem. I even checked in my control panel in the sound settings and it recognizes the scanner's audio. Why won't the software?

Let me suggest that you follow Tecker's guide:

http://forums.radioreference.com/st...detect-works-python-based-80.html#post1957737

That will speed things up considerably.

when the tone come in are they the correct tones if not you will have to change your tone to match the tone that you are receiving. Your sound card may not be receiving the correct tones.

Does anybody know if there is a way I can use TwoTone Detect to pick up a RR feed with my computer speakers muted? In the past I have taken a cable from my headphone jack to the mic input, but trying to see if there is a different way.

v62 issues

Just upgraded and set up TwoToneDetect v62 on fire department computer. Was hosting from my residence, but my computer crashed. Anyway, I have everything semi-working. It is not recording and sending out the AMR or the MP3 emails for whatever reason. Below is my readout from the debug version. I receive the text email, but it wont record. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Which OS? It might be possible to point the software to the Stereo Mix if in XP. You might still need something in the input, like some dead headphones to trigger the presence. Dont know if that would work for you. Otherwise you would need to find a virtual soundcard.

Thanks. I tried setting the Audio Input Device as Stereo Mix and it is not picking up the audio, but if I use sound recorder it records the feed perfectly fine. Any ideas?

Sure. You might try VB-Audio (Free Virtual Audio Cable alternative | Dangerous Prototypes) it is a freeware/donationware for more features software that puts in some virtual sound devices. Dont know if you want to listen to RR feed and pump it into TTD. The other big kahuna of the virtual sound devices is Virtual Audio Cable (Virtual Audio Cable Home Page) but it is payware. Both can be tried for a while without pay (heck the first one never needs payment) to see if they will work.

Another option would be to get a splitter and then keep feeding back via physical cable.
