Finally heard the new Medical chopper for U of M today.

08-12-12
N155UM (New U of M helo) Eurocopter EC-155 B1
122.700 Mettetal traffic.
120.300 ARB twr, New U of M chopper, 08:10pm. Departing to the NE, 08:20pm.
122.700 Mettetal traffic, @ 2000ft, passing overhead from SW to NE, 08:21pm.

Talking to the U of M chopper crew at last years Pontiac airport open house. They said they were going to start getting the new chopper in November of last year. Looks like they were a little off.

Thanks for posting the pic tjwgrr. Very nice looking. I can't wait to see it for myself someday. Mayby they will bring it to the Pontiac airport open house on Aug 26th. This year will have a $5 parking fee, but the show is free.

Earlier this week Beaumont Health System started air ambulance services.
Beaumont and PHI Air Medical launch helicopter transportation service

I heard that chopper N312PH on City twr on the 8th @ 12:01am. How many Med choppers do we need in the SE MI area? Henry Ford / Superior Ambulance has a chopper N253SA AIR MED 2 EC-135 P2+. U of M has 4 choppers for now, until they retire the older Bell 430's. We sometimes get the Saginaw, Toledo, Cleveland, & Grand Rapids choppers over here. Must be a good time to own Medical choppers. At least we're getting more chopper around here instead of less. Maybe the A/A chopper freq will get better conversations, 123.025.

That means I'm going to have to search for the Ops channel for the new Beaumont 1 chopper.

Its good $ for running them is probably why so many. A couple years ago at monitor twp fire open house in bay county, st. marys saginaw copter came in. I asked the pilot how much they bill for its use - $15,000 !

I found the Beaumont 1 Ops freq (N312PH).
151.1650 or
151.1700 it came in pretty good on both freqs. Waiting for them to talk again to narrow it down better on another radio. 151.165 sounded a little off when the helo talked, so I'm leaning toward 151.170 more.

Life Guard 312PH (EC-135 P2)
127.500 DTW app, 02:06pm.
151.165 Beaumont 1 Ops. 02:16pm.
123.050 Oakland Troy (VLL) Unicom, at Beaumont Hospital going to Oakland Troy for fuel, 02:22pm.

Pretty sure it's
151.1700 DCS 411 BEAUMONT 1 Ops. Just went from the Hospital to Oakland Troy for fuel & Oxygen, then back to the Hospital. 1 soul on board & 2 hours of fuel, 12:34am.

Also heard the new U of M chopper tonight.
155UM (EC-155 B1 Eurocopter) 08-19-12
130.600 Ops, 12:00am.
125.275 YIP twr, 12:10am.
155.160 is another freq they use to dispatch the helo's.
151.565 Med Comm or Flight Comm. I haven't heard this freq used in awhile now.

It sounds like 151.1675 MHz to me. They are operating in NFM mode.

73's

Ron

Ok thanks Ron,
2 radio's were giving me different freqs. The PRO-2055 would take 151.1675. My BC-780 wouldn't take that freq at first until I changed the steps to 7.5Khz.

The new U of M Med chopper just went past my house @ 12:21am. Did a low approach to City airport rnwy 15, & is now on his way back to Ann Arbor. N155UM (EC-155 B1)
