Can't remember if a command, like gain, where actually doing anything and where immediately overwritten by the scanners operating system.
All commands are specified in one of the threads here at RR. Keywords digging the sub processor. Maybe it was Eric Cotrell or those kind of hacker guys who knows everything about scanners operating systems who had dig up the info by trial and error.

Found what you mentioned. Although Eric cautioned about single character commands changing values, I found they revert back when the SDS100 is rebooted, indicating there is a config file to save changes and is read on bootup. Did not try to browse the file system as I would not expect to know better than Uniden what would be better settings. Not the config file on the SD card of course, but in the internal storage. That satisfied my curiosity. No need to go any further. It was interesting to see the RSSI change with LNA and mixer gain changes.

At boot the values are in the firmware for the CPU and are sent to the DSP sub processors work memory and the DSP controls the SDR receiver chip. The upper micro USB port are only in connection with the DSP sub processor and not the main CPU or any memory areas.

Good to know. Thanks! So Eric's concern at that point was probably before more was known. Would be interesing to play around with gains, knowing the values are in firmware.

Noticed the case texture is noticeably refined – that added detail in the injection mold die really shows. Big step up from the smoother, pre-production/engineering samples the Beta Team has been runnin, I'm sure it feels premium in hand and should improve grip in the field. Nice touch, Uniden!
