New unknown TRS

Hearing a new ( to me) TRS on 860.7875 with a system ID of 1D09.. This is not in the database and so far I have not heard any activity.

This frequency comes back to a COMBINED TECHNOLOGIES INC out of Cincinnati.

There used be a company by the same name that was in the business of erecting and maintaining commercial radio towers. This may be them, just haven't heard of them in quite a few years. I wonder if this may a new version of the old SMRs like MobileCom had/has where they lease out their system to other users?

Ok, after some monitoring this sounds like Mobile Com. On talkgroup 64704 I heard :

37 to base, Im on my way to Springdale Police Dept. for Radio Installation.

However, I can't find a license for mobile com for this frequency. I'm going to keep listening to see what else I can come up with.

I haven't listened to it in years and was wondering if it was still
active. That is why that particular page has not been updated since 2002.
A lot of the mid Hamilton County public safety agencies used it before moving over to the new Hamilton County system. I'm not sure how much is left on it.

Is it completely a Type II system now?

Yes, Completely type II..Sounds so far like use for the techs to communicate with base.. The in route to Springdale Police part gave away who they were. I haven't heard any other traffic as of yet.

Wonder why no License? Any thoughts?

No license because the system is old and they let it expire. I believe there were also some local Public Safety users on it until the switch to the Hamilton County TRS.

Still in use though.....Gotta believe there covered somewhere for it..After all, this is MobileCom.. :lol:

When NexTel was buying up all the local SMRs, this one got lost in the shuffle, I believe.
Same with 1 for B & C Communications in the Columbus area. Control Channel is still active.....

At one time there were four SMRs operated by MobileCom in Cincinnati. All are listed on the MONIXWeb site, but have not been updated in quite some time because most of us quit monitoring it when the Hamilton County system became active. The only thing on them that was worth listening to was the few public safety departments using it.

For all you history buffs, that SMR started out back in the early ninties with Springfield Township Police and Fire as the main user, we would track them by locking out the control channel as it changed each midnight and manually switch the channels on our scanners. Well before we ever knew what a "talkgroup" was.
