Hi,
Not sure if this is the right spot for it, but I just wanted to introduce myself as a new member to the forum/site.
I am here to learn as much as I can about antennas and using radios. I definitely fall into the category of amateur marine radio user. I am new to boating and have purchased a Standard Horizon Explorer GX1700 Fixed Mount 25 Watt VHF Radio made by Yaesu. It has GPS and a built in GPS antenna, but also has the ability to connect to a fixed antenna. NO AIS but does have DSC features.
I am hoping to learn about making my own antennas for my boat (VHF and maybe GPS). I have found some plans online but could use some clarification and thoughts on making the most with what I have. I have had some LMR400 cable for a couple years and would like to make 1 or more antennas from it.
Look forward to digging in here and learning as much as I can.
Thank you all in advance for the future help!
