I don't have much of a background in scanning, just have an old BC200XLT that I used to use in Florida to monitor local police, fire, etc. I understand the concept of trunk systems and I am looking to get into the hobby a little bit. I could use some advice on what would be a good scanner to get. I prefer something portable, and I want to be able to receive local police/sheriff and fire, and military/aviation. Budget is definately under $500, but prefer to keep it under $300 if possible. I also need to find out if the Pierce county, WA area uses the digital systems, or can I just get an analog scanner with trunk capability. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
