new user requesting scanner comparison

Hi Everyone,

I'm relatively new to the scanner community and I'm looking to purchase my first scanner.

I'm told I need a scanner with trunking capability but I am not looking for a digital scanner as it is out of my price range.

I am looking at these two scanners :

Uniden Bearcat BC898T Trunktracker III scanner

Uniden BCT8 250-CHANNEL, 800 MHZ SCANNER WITH TrunkTracker III

I was hoping someone here could give me a recommendation on which is the better unit (if that's possible)

If you don't mind me asking what is your budget, Both of those scanners are desktop units so it looks like you don't want a handheld. If you can tell me what the max amount you want to spend i'm sure we can find you the most bang for your buck radio.

My budget is to spend as little as possible. I found both scanners online for under $100 Canadian. I don't want to spend more than $150 with shipping and taxes

I like the 160 more than the 163 cause of the bigger screen and i think you get 20 characters for the alpha tags vs 16 on the 163.
