I live in Phoenix, AZ and would like to buy a scanner but I do not know much about them. From what I have read so far from some of your members the BC-246T seems to be good choice. I understand Phoenix is going to APCO-25 9600 baud, I wonder if the BC-246T would work for me?

You will probably get ALOT of different opinions. It really all depends on what you want it for and how much you want to pay. IM currently eyeing the new pro-97 by radio shack. It has a ton of features on it. That being said if you are new to scanning the pro-97 might be a little bit overwelming. Good luck and welcome to the community.

Did everyone miss the that he is Phoenix?

Neither a BC246T nor a Pro-97 will work. Yes they are going to APCO25 and the only four scanners that will decode that right now are a Pro-96/2096 or BC296D/796D. All of those are in the $500 range. Also, and you need to check this in the AZ fourm, but most of the Phoenix system will be encrypted, so no scanner is going to help anyway. I would suggest that you review the posts in the AZ forum and then ask an informed question there. There are plenty of people willing to help you decide in the Phoenix area.
