Hey guys I recently just purchased a BC246T from Uniden and awaiting arrival! I am hoping to get a list of frequencies and maybe some quick tips on how to program these into this handheld model. How difficult is it and how much time needs to be set aside for this? I am really excited to get into scanning, family and myself into HAM for a long time but haven't ever purchased a scanner itself. So any helpful hints or comments would be appreciated. Thanks, also I am looking for frequencies in bountiful, Centerville (Davis, Salt Lake and Ogden)

We are always happy to see people become interested in this fascinating hobby. You can get very involved in it, too.
To begin with, I'm not familiar with the scanner you have chosen so I cannot give you any advice on it, but I'm sure that another member will be by eventually that can answer some questions for you. In the meantime, you may want to look at
some supporting software that can help you with your programming. Also, if you are not familiar with the concept of trunking, or even if you are, I suggest you read
Trunking Basics including
watching this video put together by
bneilson, one of our Utah members.
One other thing, would you return to your
User CP (left side of second blue bar on any page) and finish your profil by adding your city to your Utah location. A lot of things depend on knowing that and it is also just a common courtesy to the rest of us.
Oh, and you might be interested in examining
this page since it lists all the trunking systems in the state and all the Talk Groups (TGs) that we have identified.
Again, welcome. I hope you will not be overwhelmed. It will take some studying, but you'll get the hang of it. That is the fun. Don't hesitate to ask questions.
