An NXDN 4.8k control channel just showed up on 164.025 in this area, have not had time to check it out. It is probably in the Outaouais. To the first person to get the details, a 1/4 pound of licorice all-sorts...

Looks like IC database search (can we call them IC anymore, or is it TAFL anymore?) is mucked up again. They changed the grouping of parameters, no big deal, but the units are mixed up. One frequency showed:

Frequency (Hz) = 1.6401E8 (correct but confusing)

TX ERP = 57.54dBW (= 567kW, don't think so)

Occupied Bandwidth = 16000.0 kHz (16000F3?)

Oh well.

Dave

BTW 164.025 didn't show up in the search, above was a nearby frequency.

Hello Dave,

Here is what is showing so far for 164.025:

It is control channel 1.

2017/02/08 10:00:51 Current network: L2088
2017/02/08 10:00:51 Current site: L2088-1
2017/02/08 10:00:52 L2088-1 neighbor: Site L2088-2; CC=6
2017/02/08 10:00:52 L2088-1 neighbor: Site L2088-3; CC=10
2017/02/08 10:00:52 L2088-1 neighbor: Site L2088-4; CC=14

Not much info but will leave it recording today and see what comes up.

It's confirmed to be the new NXDM system for all MRC des Collines FD + PD. This site (2088-1) is in the L'Ange-Gardien area.

Here's the frequency I have for this site:

164.0250 - CC
167.6750
169.8000

System is not currently in use, they are still installating radios and the dispatch console.

I will stage the system now.

Please report RAN if known. (looks like 1 RAN and other sites are 6,10,14 RAN)

When it goes live, I will free it up for view.

Small update to the mapping of site 1:

1 - 164.0250 - CC
? - 167.6750
? - 169.8000
4 - 152.4200

Next step is figuring out channel 2 and 3 frequency and FD talkgroups.

Hello,

CC is the control channel, not the RAN. Technically a NXDN Type C System does not have a RAN. The field used as RAN in conventional is used for the site number modulus 63 in Type-C trunking. Most monitoring programs always report it as RAN. This looks like a 4 site system so the reported "RAN" is going to be 1 for Site 1, 2 for Site 2, 3 for Site 3, and 4 for Site 4. This makes it easier to figure out the site of a monitored frequency.

It also appears that the frequency mapping is ordered by site. If you assume each site has four frequencies, then
LCN 1 - 4 Site 1
LCN 5 - 8 Site 2
LCN 9 - 12 Site 3
LCN 13 - 16 Site 4
This fits with the control channel numbering.

Figuring out the mapping usually requires monitoring the control channel for frequency assignment activity and having another search receiver to see what frequency becomes active.

The staged system sites have the correct RAN's of 1,3,4 now.

Thank you, Eric. :)

I suspect 167.6750 is actually 167.6775 (7.5kHz splinter frequency), or 167.6700, but have not heard anything on it so far.

In the MRC there are many more than 7 individual FDs. I think this refers to 7 regions/municipalities (if that term is correct) according to their website:

http://www.mrcdescollinesdeloutaouais.qc.ca/upload/userfiles/files/route11-17.pdf

Cantley, Chelsea, L'Ange-Gardien, La Peche, ND-de-la-Salette, Pontiac, Val-des-Monts.

I know just in Pontiac there are multiple departments including Shawville, Bristol, Quyon and Luskville (UHF) etc. with separate systems.

So they want to cover everything with only four sites? I can see issues given the mountainous terrain. Maybe it's all been figured out, or more sites are planned.

As an aside: L'Ange-Gardien seems to have a new (?) channel, 154.3250, listed on IC search.

Also aside, I believe Denholm to the north is using 153.545, NXDN 4.8k.

Denholm is using NXDN 4.8k in single frequency, same as Low Quebec.

Not sure how many site will be active in total, this system was supposed to be active a year ago and it still not ready.

Will try to do more monitoring today. I will have the mapping for all FD talkgroup soon.

Hi all, here's the latest info I have for Site 1 with RAN 1 and the mapping for the FD:

Site : 2088-1
RAN : 1

1 - 164.0250 - CC
2 - 167.6750
3 - 169.8000
4 - 158.0900

For the TG mapping :

201 - SSI 911
202 - SSI AngeGardien
203 - Unknown
209 - Citerne Est
210 - Citerne Centre
211 - Citerne Ouest
301 - Police-SSI

Now for the bad part, when decoding the VC, DSD show Alg=Sc. After a quick search I think they have voice scrambler activated. Anyone can confirmed?
