Yeah... no info on freqs anywhere yet.

Will that be just repeated P25 audio or statewide system?
I doubt everybody here would miss a system that would just appear out of nowhere.

Just spend a few days in the Yakima and Tri-Cities area.

Yes, Yakamia is now using P25 Ditigal as a primary and the mobile radios also have the ability to go to narrow band analog as a back up until the switch over is complete.

After the system in Yakamia is completly done, then Tri-Cities will convert then move to Ellensburg/Wenatachie, then Spokane, then Vancouver, then Marysville, then Seattle, then Tacoma/Olympia.

The installion of the dispatch consoles is been done in the above order and at the same time the current dispatch ability will remain in place.

All of the current frequency's that the patrol uses will remain, just changing them to P-25 digatal

There is also no plans to do any primary dispatching on the 700/800 trunk systems, this is for interop in the areas that use trunking as their primary dispatch.

So, let me get this straight. All the WSP frequencies for the state will remain the same? So, Yakima is TXing on 154.920 in P25 Mode? Has anyone got the NAC info yet? Thanks.

YES, ALL frequecnys are the same.

You do not need NAC codes.

NAC codes are only used in trunking mode. The WSP is NOT using trunking, JUST P25 narrow band mode.

If you have been monitoring the WSP for any lenght of time, the ONLY thing you need to do is have a digatal capible scanner for the audio.

NACs are in fact necessary for P25. They are equivalent to DPL or PL tones, except they are necessary for the digital data stream. you can run Digital CSQ, or the new equivalent of F7E to unmute for anything, but Network Access Codes are a necessity for any APCO25 transmissions.

Looks like an interesting process overall. A massive area like that switching over in such a short time frame. Keeping my eye on this thread to see how well it moves along.

It's the same deal as PL's the thems don't want that data in the public's hands so the users are going to have to fill in the blanks.

If they're smart, they'll run split tones. There may be the same output for several sites, but each site may have an input with a separate tone to key up individually. Makes it a little more secure as well.

I spoke with one of their techs on Wed. He said unlikely P25 trunked any time soon.
They are trying to change to P25 conventional on the existing freqs.
I can tell you for certain 40M won't get you a statewide system on VHF. And certainly not on 800 trunked.
The other agencies that run 800/700 systems want too much money for what WSP can pay, and it really is not as easy as it sounds to have multi-band multi "system" radios.
A HUGE amount of money is being spent trying to get the MA/COM radios to work.
I can easily see 20M on subscriber radios and installs.
Only another 20M for all the P25 conventional repeaters, backhaul upgrades, console upgades, etc.
Probably NB the fleet, put in P25 conv. In some zones and start migrating.
No doubt there will be some coverage reduction, but areas that have poor coverage need to be improved no matter the technology.
Our county intends to "rebroadcast" the P25 WSP traffic on another frequency likely from. Two sites.

Who said they are sticking with the old radios?

"I can tell you for certain 40M won't get you a statewide system on VHF. And certainly not on 800 trunked."

Not unless it's already been built.

okay. Why is there a open coil 700/800 antenna followed by a 1/4 wave VHF on the roof of nearly every cruiser and support vehicle in the last 3 months?

I have seen some newer Chevy Caprices in Thurston County and all I see is the 700/800 MHz antenna and the standard VHF on the roof. No CB whips on the back of the trunk lid like the old cars. Are they removing the CBs from the newer cars?

What county are you in? Your location ID states Sparks NV.

icom1020 - lisalolo When you look at the vehicle, the antenna to the front of the roof is for the 700/800 radio side. The antenna in the center is for the VHF side. Antennas on the left rear is for a aux reciever that is normally the local area frequency. If there is an antenna on the right rear it is for the CB.

And yes there are some cars that do not have CBs installed.

CableTech, where are you located at? I am in the Bremerton Area Command. Do you have a P25 radio? I will wait until either WSP Seattle or Bremerton go P25 to buy a new radio. Maybe you could keep us updated if you have a cabpible radio? Thanks.

Like my post said, the WSP tech stated that lots of money is being spent to get the "old" radios to work. He said around 700 had been done.
Even 5 min on work on 700 radios is a lot of money.
What"already built" statewide 800 system?
If you own three band MACOM radios, why would you not have the antennas for them?
Why not have the ITAC, ICALL and other 800 channels?
Doesn't mean they suddenly have ability to use every trunked system in the state.
Maybe they do.
If someone knows for sure that WSP is authorized on another agency owned 800 trunked system, state that here.
Some of you missed my other posts in the WA forum.
I work for Kittcom, the communications agency for Kittitas county.
We know WSP here will be P25 conventional on their old freqs because they told us so.
They have equip in several of our sites, and we in theirs.
Nobody knows for sure what will happen in the future, but I dont' see them having the money for a NEW P25 or any other kind of 800 trunking system statewide.
I understand the idea of getting on IWIN/JWIN didn't pan out either.
Though that might have been a good fit for them, as it is VHF based.
Gonna be interesting...

Turns out it is the new Motorola mobiles (APX) they are having interference with.
And they are having the usual growing pains with the new P25 system components too.
But they are going forward with changing Vhf to P25 and adding 700/800 trunking in just the PUget Sound area.
Glad we are just adding new repeaters and narrow banding the existing ones.
It is going to be and interesting winter.

The same that you have been using for years.
154.680 I-5 west and south to Fwederal way and over on hy 167 up to 405 and hy 18 up to I 90.
155.580 I-5/90 north to county line and 405 to the east all the way to the pass.

The small area on I-5 from 405 to I 90 is overlap area and can be either one/both
