I listen to this new system frequently and have never heard activity on 1079. That TG was put into the database at the same time some other inaccurate talkgroups were added (ie there are no fire station specific talkgroups TMK), so not sure if 1079 is reliable. Rely on TG1000.

Yeah no activity on DEC: 1079 I'd say DEC: 1000 is the Township Fire Dispatch.

I have my Uniden BCD996P2 set up like a fire pager so when there is activity on for example Maryhill Fire: 1709 the scanner alerts when there is activity on that specific TGID.

Another example would be St. Jacobs Fire: 1711 and for St. Jacobs Medical: 1712. These TGID's are only active for calls/pager tests. Also, the Dispatch 2 channels for Kitchener Fire Department, Waterloo Fire Rescue, Cambridge Fire Department are back up dispatch channels.

So I did some more listening on Monday and what was supposed to be Cambridge TAC 1, I was hearing Elmira doing training. When Cambridge uses a Fire TAC channel its either one of the Regional Ops channels or TAC channels, not the Cambridge TAC channels.

Not sure that those Cambridge TAC channels are for. Anyone else know what those channels really are?

Referring to TGID 1021 - 1026? I have no idea what those are ... they are not TAC channels and honestly ... I've never heard them, so for TAC channels, they aren't put to good use. There were some similar Kitchener and Waterloo channels that were station specific, which were flawed because they referred to stations that didn't exist (like Waterloo Stn. 6). They've been removed because I don't think they were were proven.

AFIK, all Regional Fire Services share the TAC (1-5), OPS aka Fireground (1-5), and training (1-5) channels. Dispatch will assign a call to an appropriate channel. It's not uncommon to hear the Township services ask Dispatch for a Training channel to use. All up to Dispatch's discretion. I'm not quite sure if their is any rhyme or reason as to the use of Fireground vs TAC channels. They seem to use both routinely and interchangeably.

Yes absolutely! It can then be added to the database or wiki as needed.

As for whether or not FD will encrypt... My personal thought is that if they were going to, they would have right from the get go. But who knows that the future holds, especially if they don't like people streaming their traffic.

I totally agree with you. If it hasn't been done by now, it's not going to happen. (Knock on wood).

I believe Transit Security may still be on the old EDACS system with the other transit talkgroups at this point, unless things have just recently migrated over.

When do you find them commonly testing your pagers? If I recall, it used to be Monday evenings. I haven't logged these talkgroups yet on DSD+ but I'm clearly not monitoring at the right times.

Usually, I hear them start testing around 6:30 or 6:40 and go on to 7 pm on Monday. Also, Elmira will come on Saturday close to Noon usually...
