The fire is looking pretty good this afternoon. They burned off the mountain and once it hits the flats, it is more-or-less going out. The only place they are having a little trouble is in Santa Paula along the river bottom. Significantly less smoke coming off than a few hours ago.

I live 9 miles west of the origin of the fire, the Maria Incident, and happened to hear the original dispatch by Ventura County Fire (VNC). With the exception of a few hours sleep last night I’ve been listening continuously with 5 scanners, 4 connected to a roof antenna.

The area encompassed by the fire is approximately 9 miles long E/W along the western end of a mountain range by 5 miles at its widest. The peak, South Mountain (el 2313 feet), is loaded with communications facilities. On the north side, the fire has burned down to the dry Santa Clara river (230 feet) , across from which is the city of Santa Paula.

The Command Center is at Freedom Park which is at the Camarillo Airport as is the heliport. There are 3 branches: Santa Paula (N side), Somis (S side), & Saticoy (W end).

Frequencies
155.985 R Command (This is VNC Cmd 8.)
153.830 Santa Paula Branch (VNC Tac 9)

159.3825 CALFIRE Tac 31
159.3325 CALFIRE Tac 24
168.3500 Crew Net/Dozers
151.3775 Air/Ground
122.925 Air Attack transition

Can you verify that Crew Net/Dozers and Fixed Wing Ops are the same 168.35?
