To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

P25 would be wonderful as most public services are converting over to that.

It appears the only new RF feature is crossband repeat and crossband full duplex.

I'm pretty sure all the items on the display are just showing what is available. I cant imagine that they will all be on at the same time.

BuyTwoWayRadios.com is going to loan one to me, so I can play around with it. They think I will have it in a week or two.
If the front end is really good, then this should make a terrific radio for working some satellites.

Keep an eye on the manufacturer's web site wouxun.com they will probably update it and post the manual in the download area eventually.

The main areas im concerned with this about are the front end quality and the overall durability of the radio, which alot of the other chinese radios seem to be lacking, although the Wouxuns have done pretty well on up to this point. Also im hoping that they have improved the scan speed and added the ability to lockout a channel from the keypad, but those are more "wishlist" features than necessities, but it would certainly be a nice improvement.
If these turn out to be built to the same standard as the KGUVD1P is, which i consider to be one of the best of the chinese radios, then i will definitely be adding one to my collection.

Am i correct to believe that functions-wise it is fairly similar to Puxing PX-UV973 ? ( PUXING PX-UV973 - true dual-band, dual-receive commercial HT. ) The big display is nice (if it doesn't impact battery life much) but i think that basic functions are already present in the Puxing which is already available(since last summer i believe).

It would seem as though it's fairly similar only in that it adds full duplex cross band repeat and DTMF decoding. DTMF decoding hasn't proven that reliable for me on the Puxing. The Puxing also has scramble.
Wouxun has more channels and some memory management to break those channels into groups/banks for scanning.
We haven't heard any real-world reports on the new Wouxun yet, so it's too soon to know how they stack up. If someone wants to send me one, I'd be happy to evaluate it on both ham and public safety bands (assuming it's Part 90 approved).
