New WS 1040 Gift for my son in NC

Just rec'd the WS 1040 i purchased for my son's Christmas gift. He lives in NC. Just moved to Henderson County from Buncombe County. I see on the RR site everything is encrypted now in Hen. County! Just want to know if the software for the Whistler is easy to deal with? Any info or support would be greatly appreciated. Happy scanning to all. Thanks, Bernie003

Whistler doesn't have programming software for the WS1040. You have 3 choices: ARC500. Win500, and PSREdit500. All 3 are paid programs. I use Butel ARC500. Software is a lot easier and faster than trying to program the scanner manually.

Henderson County is all encrypted.

Doesn't really matter anyway, since the WS1040 scanner won't decode NXDN which the County is using.

Henderson County has a presence on the statewide system, VIPER, the 1040 will work well on that system.

Your son will be able to monitor the SHP as well.
